Q3 2023 Newsletter: Member Corner: Trident IoT

While the name Trident IoT is new to most Z-Wave Alliance members and the Host Sponsor for the upcoming Z-Wave Summit , however the brains behind the operation are quite familiar.

Launched in mid-August as a “one-stop shop to help companies develop their IoT products,“ Trident IoT is the brainchild of IoT pioneers Mariusz Malkowski, Bill Scheffler, and Michael Lamb,The Trident IoT team already has a stellar reputation, having delivered thousands of IoT products to market leveraging all available technologies, including Z-Wave, during their storied careers.

Z-Wave At the Get-Go

Trident IoT is a Z-Wave Alliance principal member, as well as a member of the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, and the LoRa Alliance.

To that end, Trid

ent IoT’s first chipset and modules will be part of the Z-Wave ecosystem. Trident IoT sees tremendous opportunity for Z-Wave Long Range (LR), which is currently both underserved and underrepresented in the market.

With an operational certification lab located in New Jersey, Trident IoT is fully equipped and available for compliance testing of end products based on Z-Wave Plus and Z-Wave Plus v2 standards and specifications.

“By offering U.S.-based Z-Wave device certification, we can make it easier for North American manufacturers to communicate throughout the certification process, resolving issues that arise quickly and ultimately getting products to market faster,” says Chief Technology Officer and Trident IoT Co-Founder Mariusz Malkowski. “Our goal is to help Z-Wave device members continue to innovate, making it easier and more efficient for them to successfully implement new features, such as Z-Wave Long Range, which unlocks new use cases with incredible capabilities.”

Several Z-Wave Alliance manufacturer members have already begun to take advantage of the new certification house, with Trident IoT standing by to accept and add new devices to the queue.

“Trident IoT further fosters the development of new features, enhancements, and custom applications on Z-Wave Technology by offering connected device manufacturers a new direct source for Z-Wave chips and modules, along with personalized product engineering support and U.S.-based Z-Wave certification,” said Mitch Klein, Executive Director of the Z-Wave Alliance. “I’ve had the privilege to work with many of the founders and engineers at Trident IoT over the past decade, both at the Alliance and at Silicon Labs. This industry is going to benefit tremendously from having an RF-specialized semiconductor partner.”

To learn more about Trident IoT and hear about their plans directly from one of their founders, we encourage you to listen to one of Stacey Higginbotham’s latest podcast episodes where Stacey on IoT connects directly with Mariusz Malkowski.

Trident IoT is the Host Sponsor for the upcoming Z-Wave Summit September 18-20 in Orlando. The team will be on-site to talk about their initial product offerings and plans for the future. Make sure you are registered to attend.
