Z-Wave Certification Updates: CTTv3 and Certification Cost

The Z-Wave Alliance is excited to share updates to Z-Wave certification, including the launch of the new CTTv3, reduced Z-Wave end device certification fees and the latest Z-Wave specification 2020B.  Members are invited to join and participate in the Product Certification Working Group (PCWG), helping to drive the certification program.  See below for details of each of these new developments.

Next generation Z-Wave Compliance Test Tool Now Available

The new Z-Wave Compliance Test Tool version 3 (CTTv3) automates test cases for the Z-Wave Plus v2 certification program. Not only does this simplify self-certification it also reduces the test time needed, increasing your speed to market. CTTv3 is integrated with the Z-Wave Certification Portal and the information you provide in the Certification Form on the Portal will pre-select the required tests for your specific product in CTTv3.

The CTTv3 can be downloaded via the Z-Wave Certification Portal on https://z-wavecertification.z-wavealliance.org/. (Login required. For assistance, contact certadmin@z-wavealliance.org)       

Reduced Z-Wave End Device Certification Cost

With the release of the CTTv3 the cost of certifying end devices has been reduced by 25% from January 1st 2021.

The Latest Z-Wave Specification 2020B is Now Certifiable

2020B Specifications brings relaxed requirements:

  • Learn Mode optional for Central Static Controllers (CSC)
  • Requirements for Identify function relaxed
  • Nodes requesting S2 Authenticated as highest Class are not required to request S2 Unauthenticated anymore.

And a few new command classes and a MUST:

  • Controllers must control Anti-Theft or Anti-Theft Unlock Command Class
  • Anti-Theft Version 3 / Anti-Theft Unlock Version 1
  • Battery Version 3
  • Wake Up Version 3
  • Indicator Version 4
  • Supervision Version 2

Be Heard and Join in Driving the Future of Z-Wave Certification

The Product Certification Working Group (PCWG) has been established in the Z-Wave Alliance SDO to drive the Z-Wave product certification program, tools roadmap and enforce certification in the ecosystem. Z-Wave Alliance members from Manufacturer level and up, are invited to join PCWG and other working groups to take an active role in the future of Z-Wave interoperability and compatibility.
