The Responsive Home: Next-Gen Sensors, Open Standards, and the Future of Intelligent Security
Join ADT for an engaging fireside chat on how the next generation of smart home sensors and open standards is reshaping how homes understand and respond to the people inside them. What began with simple motion and contact sensors has expanded into a diverse ecosystem of IR, radar, environmental, energy-aware, and multi-protocol devices. At the same time, the rapid evolution of standards like Z-Wave Long Range (ZWLR) and Matter 1.5 is unlocking a richer, more interoperable foundation for these sensors to work together at scale.
Panelists will explore how sensing technologies are evolving, how traditional room and motion sensors are being reimagined, and how sensor fusion is driving more intuitive and responsive experiences across lighting, climate, safety, and security. They will also discuss how open standards are shaping the next decade of home automation, enabling broader device ecosystems, extending range and reliability, and supporting advanced capabilities like presence-driven intelligence, all while maintaining user trust and privacy.
Together, the following participants will examine the state of modern sensor technology, the role of interoperability and open standards in accelerating innovation, and the future of sensor-driven home intelligence.
- Session moderator: Dan Turk, ADT
- Session speakers will include:
- Gilles Drieu, ADT
- Jennifer Pattison Tuohy, The Verge
- Daniel Wroclawski, Consumer Reports
