BuLogics Demonstrates OpenADR 2.0 At Grid-Interop Event

Innovative System Successfully Bridges Smart Homes And Smart Grid; Accompanying Technical White Paper Published

IRVING, TX, December 7, 2012 – BuLogics, Inc. a leading designer of wireless automation solutions for the commercial, hospitality, residential and industrial markets, successfully demonstrated its OpenADR2.0 / Z-Wave demand response system for multi-dwelling units at the SGIP Grid Interop event held December 3-6 in Irving, Texas. In addition, the company has presented a white paper mapping OpenARD2.0a signals to Z-Wave energy control signals.

BuLogics provides complete building control, automation and energy management solutions, including the implementation of utility demand response programs using a variety of technologies, including OpenADR, Smart Energy Profile and Z-Wave control.  BuLogics specializes in  commercial wireless automation ecosystems, particularly in the retro-fit markets for multi-dwelling apartment units, hospitality and industrial buildings.

Z-Wave Alliance Chairman Mark Walters stated,  “We invited  BuLogics to join the Alliance at the Grid-Interop Plug-In event not only because they have proven their ability to provide real-world solutions in multiple installations over the past few years, but also because we knew they’d be able to iterate rapidly, incorporate the additional features the new OpenADR2.0a standard has to offer, and provide a solid live demonstration of these features at this key Plug-In event.  We were pleased to see their solution work perfectly — receiving OpenADR2.0a signals from an Akuacom DRAS, acting on those signals using Z-Wave RF control to provide energy curtailment throughout a simulated multi-dwelling unit, and sub-metering and reporting the actual savings back to the DRAS using the OpenADR channel.”

In addition to the demonstration, BuLogics also presented a white paper outlining methods of integration between the OpenADR and wireless devices using the Z-Wave ecosystem.  “We are always on the lookout for new opportunities to prove that energy efficiency is viable at mass market,” stated BuLogics CTO Ryan Buchert.  “This is not a Beta situation any longer.  The best way to start saving energy and thereby money — as much as 30% in some situations — is to begin implementing the technology now.”
