AT&T Digital Life Senior Monitoring Leads with Love

http://www.residentialsystems.com/news/0003/att-digital-life-leads-with-love/86176AT&T’s new Digital Life plans aim to connect caregivers to their loved ones via in-house monitoring services. Dubbed Digital Life Care, the plan is an expansion to the company’s Digital Life platform, and will help those that need extra care to safely and independently remain in their own home. AT&T released some stats to reveal why they’ve expanded the platform: for the next 20 years, 10,000 Americans will turn 65 each day. Annual assisted living costs are projected to start at $50,000 a year in 2015. Today, 25% of adults are caregivers to elderly or disabled persons. AT&T plans to deploy the solution to customers in 2015 and will start limited employee trials later this year.

A surprise to no one, elderly or disabled persons would rather remain in their homes than relocate to an assisted living facility. The AT&T Digital Life platform is a customized solution that adapts to the changing needs of the caregivers by providing real time monitoring and accurate alerts related to their loved one’s eating, personal care, mobility, medication schedule, and more.

“This newest service from Digital Life will help caregivers stay connected with how their loved one goes about their daily activities. Through state-of-the-art equipment, predictive analytics and ambient monitoring technology, caregivers can receive customized updates on the daily activities that matter most while allowing their loved ones to live independently,” said Kevin Petersen, president, Digital Life. “The core of Digital Life is a smart, simple and customizable automation and home security service. We are taking this one step further with our new service to help our customers reduce the caregiving burden and help care recipients remain in their homes longer.” AT&T plans to begin employee trials in Atlanta and Dallas this year. Read more…
