Aeotec Builds Upon its Industry Leading Portfolio of Smart Home Products Through Agreement with SmartThings

Introduces “Works as a SmartThings Hub” in Australia, Europe, and North America and adds additional “Works with SmartThings” devices to lineup.

Hamburg, 10 December 2020 – Aeotec Group, a recognized leader in the design and development of smart home devices, today announces an expansion of its innovative portfolio of products through an agreement with SmartThings, the premier technology enabling connected living and driving the future of IoT. The global, commercial launch includes a new Aeotec Smart Home Hub that seamlessly connects multi-platform devices with SmartThings’ ecosystem.

In addition to the Smart Home Hub, Aeotec will introduce several “Works with SmartThings” products that will be familiar to fans of the SmartThings platform, including the Aeotec Motion Sensor, Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor, Aeotec Water Leak Sensor, Aeotec Button, and Aeotec 360 Cam. Additional products are under development and announcements will be forthcoming.  These new Zigbee and Wi-Fi based products represent another milestone in Aeotec’s 14+ years of innovation and experience in IoT product engineering and design, complementing what is already an unparalleled line of Z-Wave based smart home devices. They join Aeotec’s range of 18 existing devices already compatible with the SmartThings platform.

“Aeotec has been a partner of SmartThings since the latter’s inception in 2013. We’ve grown alongside them, partnered with them on opportunities globally, and watched as SmartThings became a dominant player in the smart home space,” said Daniel P. Dykes, CEO of Aeotec Group. “Our customers have long depended upon SmartThings in order to realise their personal vision of their own automated home. The entire team at Aeotec Group, along with our partners, couldn’t be more thrilled to further our relationship with SmartThings, and to expand our product portfolio for consumers that have come to trust both Aeotec and SmartThings.”

SmartThings reaches more than 63 million active users in 200 countries, weaving connected living technology into more than 5,000 devices including mobile phones, appliances, TVs, and more.

The new products are available for sale to business clients now with delivery reaching full capacity in the first quarter 2021. In Australia, the new range of products will be distributed by Aeotec Australasia, in Europe by Z-Wave Europe, and in North America by Aeotec Americas.

About Aeotec Group GmbH:
The Aeotec brand finds its origins in a Silicon Valley start-up that quickly became recognized as a pioneer in the design and development of smart sensors and control devices utilizing Z-Wave wireless mesh technology. In 2018, strategic partners of the brand came together to form Aeotec Group and, along with the acquisition of German electrical maker Popp & Co., established its headquarters in Germany. Today the brand is supported by Aeotec Group companies and staff from Europe to Asia, and through its partners in Australia and the United States.  Aeotec’s range of Zigbee and Z-Wave based hardware and software are globally distributed in more than 100 countries and, to date, the near-200 products it has engineered have been installed in over 3 million homes.
